April 10 - ALERT … CACTUS CLASSIC APRIL REVISED SCHEDULE
Due to the low number of entries for this weekend's Cactus Classic show, CEP has cut the show down to one ring both days. Click here for the revised schedule. Please note the new 8:00am start time for both days. This show will NOT have information published online.

April 9 - USEF Threatens To Strip Cactus Classic Shows Of Its "B" Rating
CEP recently received a letter from the USEF (United States Equestrian Federation) outlining their plan to begin enforcing a little-known rule regarding horse shows and ratings. Apparently, USEF-rated shows are required to not only offer some of the obligatory USEF-rated divisions (Green, Regular, Junior, Amateur Owner, Pony, etc.), but these divisions must, for the most part, fill and run. And since filling USEF-rated divisions has continually been a problem for the Cactus Classic shows in Arizona for many years, the USEF has put CEP on notice that if the rated divisions continue to be canceled in 2008, the USEF will no longer approve the shows as applied for. Instead, the USEF would reduce the rating to "C" or "Local", or refuse to approve the shows at all. CEP's Chris Collman says, "this is very disappointing news from the USEF. If the 'B' rated Cactus Classic shows lose their rating, then all we will have left in Arizona will be high-end, expensive 'A' shows and schooling shows … nothing in-between … no transition from one to the other. And this will serve to only hurt the growth of the sport." And with this weekend's Cactus Classic April show being so small, with no entries in any of the USEF's "B" rated divisions, the likelihood that the USEF will follow through and strip these shows of its "B" rating in 2009 seems even more of a reality.

Mar 24 - Cactus Classic April Prize List Now Available Online
The prize list is now available for the Cactus Classic April Horse Show, scheduled for April 12-13, 2008 at Westworld Equestrian Center. This USEF "B" rated show will feature classes from Crossrail and Future Rider up to the "B" rated Junior and Amateur Owner Hunters at 3'3". No jumper classes will be offered, as all Cactus Classic Shows have now become hunter and equitation shows (jumper entries at past Cactus Classic shows were too small to continue to offer them).
